Quick Review

Manufacturer: 7th Floor

The Good:

The absolute best part about the Life Saber Vaporizer is it’s compatibility with a water pipe. It is great for those who want to convert to vaporization, but don’t want to give up the large clouds that can be achieved with a bong.

The Bad:

Performance as a direct draw dry herb unit is only so-so. It is still a plug in vaporizer and that can slightly take away from the value.

THE BOTTOM LINE

This vaporizer is designed for the true bong lover and it does that job very well. If one is seeking a nice desktop unit, consider the SSV or Da Buddha over the LSV.

DESIGN AND AESTHETICS

The Lifer Saber Vaporizer is a multi-functional unit that is manufactured by 7th Floor.  It is a handheld vape with a dial temperature control that lacks a digital display.  It features a ground glass heater cover that connects to a glass transfer wand or water pipe adapter, depending on preference.  The unit is constructed of high quality anodized aluminum and will last for years to come.  The barebones design is very similar to the SSV and Da Buddha, but the LSV offers more options for use.

The LSV can be used as a dry vaporizer when the glass transfer wand is connected.  The heater cover has a built in screen that the herb rests on above the heating element.  The LSV does not require any tubing and relies solely on all glass attachments.  As one draws on the transfer wand, hot air passes up from underneath the herb and the vapor is produced.    With only glass components used for the air path, every hit from the Life Saber produces very flavorful vapor.

Where the Life Saber truly shines as a vaporizer is when used with the additional water pipe adapter.  The WPA replaces the bowl piece in a ground glass bong and the LSV is used as the heat source.  Each WPA has a spherical ground glass top that connects perfectly to the heater cover, allowing the herb to be heated from above.  There is enough distance between the heating element and herb in the water pipe adapter that vapor is created without anything being charred or burnt.  This is truly the perfect set up for those who absolutely love bongs, but really want to start vaporizing.

And for those who want to take a break from vaporization, the LSV can be operated as a butane free lighter.  The heater cover is removed from the element, fully exposing the ceramic.  Set the temperature and allow the element to heat up, but be careful as it would be very dangerous to touch.  The heated ceramic will take the place of a flame lighter and when touched to herb will combust it immediately.  This method of use is not highly recommended, as it will cause extensive wear and discoloration to the heating element after only a few times.

HOW DOES IT DIFFER FROM THE SILVER SURFER AND DA BUDDHA?

The LSV has some similarities, but really differs from the SSV and Da Buddha in many ways.  All three vapes utilize the same ceramic heating element and dial temperature control.  However, the Life Saber does not require any vinyl tubing in order to be assembled.  Instead it uses a straight glass transfer wand that is connected directly to the heater cover.  The air path is not as long as when using a whip style, but the flavor will certainly be improved.  And the LSV can be used directly with a bong, once more not needing any tubing to connect.

IS THE LSV PORTABLE?

No, the Life Saber Vaporizer is not a portable unit and requires that it be plugged in when used.  It is handheld though, meaning that it does not need to be set on a desktop during use.  This makes it similar to the Plenty vaporizer by Storz & Bickel, as the unit itself is held when vaporizing.   The ground glass connections allow the user to vape while holding the LSV in only one hand, making it very simple to use with a water pipe adapter.  Though it cannot be take out on the go, it is definitely convenient for home vaporization.

WHERE SHOULD THE DIAL BE SET?

The temperature control is virtually the exact same style as both the Silver Surfer and Da Buddha vaporizers.  The LSV performs well when the dial is set to 2 o’clock, but should be adjusted according to personal preference.  When getting the unit ready for use, turn the temperature control all the way to the maximum allowed setting.  This will cause the heating element to reach vaporizing levels quicker than just setting it to the desired temperature.  However, always remember to turn it down from the max prior to use.  And every person is different, so play around with the settings until the optimal vapor production is reached.

HEAT UP TIME

Like all 7th Floor products, the Life Saber features a heating element that will reach temps in 90 seconds or less.  Set to the max as stated prior and then allow the heating element to start glowing very bright red.  Once this has occurred, twist the dial back to the desired level and wait for a moment.  If one begins to attempt vaporization when the element is too hot, the herb will combust and defeat the whole purpose.  It is a good call to start lower than 2 o’clock and slowly work up from there.

TRICKS AND TIPS

Though the Life Saber can be used as a dry vape, it really performs best when used with a bong.  Set to the max and while heating up, cover the surface area of the water pipe adapter screen.  Turn the dial back to 2 o’clock and pause briefly while it cools.  Hold the bong in one hand and the LSV in the other.  The process is almost exactly the same as hitting a bong normally with a lighter.  Simply place the ground glass heater cover against the spherical top of the adapter and begin to draw.  Hot air will be pulled from the element down over the herb, creating clouds of vapor that get cooled instantly when passing through the water.   The Life Saber takes large vapor hits to the next level, as one is not pulling the hot air into their lungs as well.  For more optimal vaporization, rotate the LSV in a circular motion when pressed against water pipe adapter.  Also remember to stir the herb after every few draws.

HOW TO CLEAN AND MAINTAIN

The LSV is a very easy unit to clean after extensive use, as all of the components used are made of glass.  The transfer wand, heater cover and water pipe adapter can be cleaned with some isopropyl alcohol.  Simply unscrew the metal casing from the unit and remove the glass heater cover.  This will leave the ceramic heating element exposed, so be careful to not accidentally snap it off.  Soak the heater cover in the alcohol and set aside.  While that is drying, soak the transfer wand and water pipe adapter separately.  Depending on which piece is used more, the wand or adapter may need to be slightly scrubbed to remove any built up residue.  What is nice is that there is no tubing that needs to be replaced and if one is careful with the glass, only the screen will need to be swapped out.

OVERALL REVIEW

The Life Saber Vaporizer is certainly a high quality vaporizer, but it is not a portable unit.  Though it must be plugged in for use, it features a range of functions that make it unique.  Direct draw via the transfer wand, bong hits when using the water pipe adapter and it can even be used as a flameless lighter.  No other vaporizer offers such a variety of uses in one package.  Versatility and longevity are quickly apparent when using the LSV.

With a recent drop in price and a larger selection of color options, the LSV is becoming more and more well known.  And in terms of operation with a bong, it does seem to outperform its closest competition, the Vriptech.  Also, it does not need to be used with a water pipe in order to vaporize whereas the Vriptech does.  Plus it comes in a nice padded bag, just like all of the 7th Floor’s vapes.  If hits from the bong are your main goal, the LSV is really the best option on the market.

    THING IS MINT!
Easy to use. Warm smooth draws from the transfer wand.
Using a chilled vapor tamer makes the LSV an even better unit. The cooled vapor makes a big difference.
    Unit is easy to clean.
Warm to the touch around the area of the heating element when turned on but, base stays nice and cool during use.
Knob is a bit tricky to get the hang of.
Once you get a feel for your LSV you should have no problem adjusting the temp.
Save up for a few weeks and pull the trigger on this one, you will love it.

That would be sweet if they made a power pack for it! Honestly though it doesn’t really need it, this vaporizer is sooo badass. I stopped using all my other vapes, I have a god damn Volcano and still prefer the LSV. Make sure if you get one to get a water pipe too, most people don’t realize how easy it is to use with a bong.

Yea I love mine, everything made by 7th Floor is super solid. You can tell the second you hold it that it is a high quality vaporizer made with all the best stuff. It heats up crazy fast and is really easy to attach to your favorite bong. I don’t know what I would do without my life saber.

I just bought one of those retractable extension cords you usually in garages and hung it in the ceiling of my living room, now I can pretty much walk around my entire and vape. Slightly dangerous but worth it.

Hands down one of the coolest vaporizers ever made. This things heats up super quick and rips incredibly hard. 7th Floor knows whats up and stands behind their amazing products. I use this with a water pipe and really can’t imagine a better way to medicate. The flavor of the vapor you get is second to none and I have never experienced anything close to the vapor I am getting now.

This is one vaporizer you will never get purchasing. I have the LSV a Volcano Plenty and a two Sky High pens but every time I have to choose I go straight to the Life Saber. It is just a boss, no better vape in my opinion. Spend the money, get the vape, sit back and enjoy your herbs.

I want one of these vapes so bad, it looks awesome and like a whole lot of fun to vaporizer with. The fact that you can easily attach it to a number of different water pipes easily puts it right up my alley. I think that all vaporizers for weed should come with a water attachment, just how the Pinnacle Pro does.
